HEXIS fuel cell systems combine cutting edge technology
with environmentally-friendly efficiency (A++).

The Galileo design and components

Galileo operates in a partial vacuum, thus preventing fuel from escaping into the environment. The system essentially consists of two parts. The top part houses the fuel cell module, which is easy to access for meintenance.

The bottom part houses components for energy conversion, for supplying heat from cogeneration and for provision of additional heat. A dual-chamber heat exchanger serves as a central, structural component. The auxiliary burner along with the fan, gas/air ratio controller as well as the heating circuit pump are integrated.

A hot water circuit and a conventional water heater can use excess waste heat of the fuel cell and the auxiliary burner for space heating and hot water. An inverter converts direct current into 230 V AC. The flow of exhaust gases is combined in a condensate collection tank. The fuel cell fan integrated in the tank provides the air for the electrochemical reaction in the fuel cell.

How the Galileo works

The Galileo fuel cell appliance meets all the heating and basic electricity requirements of a house or small apartment building. The fuel cell provides an electrical output of 1 kW and a thermal output of approximately 2 kW. If the building heat requirement exceeds this value, an integrated auxiliary burner can supply up to 20 kW of additional thermal power. In terms of heat production, the HEXIS system is comparable with a modern gas-fired condensing boiler. In condensing mode, it is suitable for open flue or balanced flue operation. Its ability to produce thermal and electrical power and its superior CO2 footprint outperforms conventional heating technologies.

User-friendly cutting edge technology

The control units rotary push button allows the configuration of all system settings and provides access to all operating data. At the same time, the system can also be easily operated on a PC, thanks to the RS232 interface integrated into the heater. This provides convenient and immediate access to the device settings. In addition, it also saves service technicians a great deal of time and effort during actual operation.
